Cecília Aquino

Cecília has a degree in International Relations from the Federal University of Sergipe (UFS) and works as a Technical Project Assistant at Gaia Projetos Socioambientais. Her career combines research, analysis and practical action aimed at building fair responses to contemporary socio-environmental challenges.

With experience in documentary research and qualitative and quantitative data analysis, Cecília contributes to studies on the bioeconomy and climate policy, working on research and technical reviews. Her experience also includes institutional internationalization and welcoming immigrants and refugees, through the development of social impact actions aimed at the linguistic and cultural integration of migrant populations at the Federal Institute of Sergipe.

Throughout her studies, she has coordinated culture and events at the UFS International Relations Academic Center, promoting spaces for interdisciplinary dialogue on food sovereignty, inequalities and international politics. Her areas of research include the socio-environmental impacts of illegal mining in the Amazon, climate justice and the role of the Global South in international climate negotiations.

Cecília took part in the Youth Climate Leaders (YCL) climate change course and has built her academic career on a commitment to decolonizing knowledge, defending socio-environmental rights and strengthening cooperation between historically vulnerable territories.
